Govardhan, Barsana and Nandgaon are the heart of Braj for most devotees. They lie in different directions from Mathura and Vrindavan, with long stretches of rural road in between, which is why a pre-booked cab with a driver who knows the route makes the day far easier than hunting for local transport at each place.

The sacred circuit around Giriraj is about 21 km (7 kos). Most pilgrims walk it, while others cover the main points by car: Daan Ghati, Mansi Ganga, Radha Kund, Kusum Sarovar and Govind Kund.

Govardhan, Barsana and Nandgaon can be covered in one long day if you start early, but a relaxed pace and a comfortable parikrama are easier over two days. Winter mornings are ideal; in summer the afternoon heat is intense, so we plan the main walking for the early morning and the evening.
During Lathmar Holi in Barsana and Nandgaon, and on Guru Purnima in Govardhan, roads are heavily crowded and some are closed to vehicles. Please book well in advance and keep your plan flexible.
